Safe and Effective Fat loss Combo or Hype?


Two really popular weight loss products are being paired together for extra weight loss benefits. What are they and the real question you’d like to know is DO THEY WORK? The two products are Green Coffee Bean Extract and Garcinia Cambogia (which has been sold under the Trademark name Citrimax) for years.

Green Coffee Bean Extract contains a constituent called Chlorogenic AcidChlorogenic Acid suppresses blood sugar which assists our body utilize fat as a fuel versus sugar (carb). The original large study on Green Coffee Extract was a 22 week study in which 100% of participants had lost weight at the 12-week mark. The average weight loss at 12 weeks was 17.6 pounds. A new study that was on glucose levels not on weight reduction confirmed Green Coffee Extract’s effectiveness. This is just a fancy term for keeping insulin and blood glucose levels from spiking throughout the day. Chlorogenic Acid taken 30 minutes before a meal helps keep the blood sugar (and insulin) under control.

Garcinia Cambogia (brindleberry) posesses a high level of HCA (Hydroxycitric Acid). HCA inhibits the enzyme citrate lyase which results in a decrease in production of fatty acids. A study on Garcinia Cambogia mentioned in the abstract that “statistically significant” results were not found. This particular study showed a 7lb average loss in the control group and a 9lb average in the Garcinia group. In real world terms it is only 2lbs, but in a % that is a 28% more in the “study” group. Garcinia was showed to boost fatty acid oxidation in the liver. This is fantastic news for those that exercise because one of the many jobs of the liver is to process fats to be utilized for fuel. When exercising I want to burn as many fat calories as I can, not just burning calories for the sake of burning calories.

To sum up, both Green Coffee Bean Extract and Garcinia Cambogia have scientific evidence proving their effectiveness. They have tested to be side-effect free and can be combined with just about any supplement. The GCB at VERY high doses can have an effect on blood pressure from the caffeine content. Each GCB capsule contains roughly 12-14mg of caffeine- a very low dose. There is a caffeine-free version as well, named Svetol(tm). Both products should be taken about thirty minutes before meals to get results. Be sure to purchase a reputable brand as I did find the only side-effects noted from the green coffee bean was caused by fillers in a product rather than the GCB. When shopping look for a Green Coffee Product with at least 50% Chlorogenic Acid and look for a Garcinia/Citrimax with a minimum of 50% HCA.
